Agent Run Transcripts No Longer Go Silent or Lose Work
Retried runs now keep their full transcript, long steps show a live status instead of silence, and every run uses current agent tools.
Summary
Watching an agent work in Effigate Command Center is now more reliable. A run that gets retried, after a machine briefly goes offline, or a pause and resume, now keeps its entire transcript instead of losing most of it. Long-running steps show a live "still working" status instead of going quiet, and every run now uses the current version of the agent's tools rather than whatever happens to be installed on a machine.
What You Gain
Previously, when a run had to be retried, its new attempt restarted its own step counter, so steps overlapping with the first attempt were thrown away as duplicates — sometimes leaving only a single line from several minutes of genuine work.
On top of that, a step that simply took a long time, such as running a big test suite, gave no sign of life for up to ten minutes, making a healthy run look stuck or dead. And on some machines, an older, locally installed version of the agent's command-line tools could quietly be used instead, leading to confusing, unrelated failures.
All three are now fixed: retried runs keep their history, long steps report progress every minute, and every run uses the right tool version.
How It Works
- Retries continue the transcript instead of restarting it. A run that resumes after an interruption picks up its step numbering where the previous attempt left off, so no real work gets discarded as a "duplicate."
- Long steps check in regularly. While a step is still running, the transcript reports "still working" roughly once a minute, so a slow step never looks the same as a stuck one.
- Status updates stay out of your way. The regular check-ins are excluded when diagnosing a failed run, so they never crowd out the steps that matter.
- Every run uses the right tool version. If a machine's command-line tools are older than the ones the desktop app ships with, the run uses the newer, bundled version instead and notes that it did.
Where to Find It
These improvements apply automatically to every agent run on every machine, with nothing to turn on. You'll notice complete, readable transcripts after a retry, and regular progress updates during long steps.
