AI Chat Only Reads Files You Uploaded Yourself
AI Chat now only reads screenshots and voice notes uploaded by the person sending the message, protecting other people's files.
Summary
AI Chat now checks that a screenshot or voice note being read actually belongs to the person sending the message, closing a gap that previously let a conversation reference a file it shouldn't have had access to.
What You Gain
Trusting a shared AI tool means trusting that it only ever looks at your own files, not anyone else's. Before this fix, AI Chat would read whichever screenshot or voice note it was pointed at, without checking who had actually uploaded it — so, in principle, a conversation could end up referencing a file that belonged to someone else entirely. This tightens that boundary: AI Chat now strictly uses only the files uploaded by the person sending the message in that conversation, so everyone's screenshots and voice notes stay theirs alone, with no quiet overlap between people's chats.
How It Works
- Checked at the message level. Every time AI Chat is asked to read a screenshot or voice note, it now confirms the file was uploaded by the person who sent that message, in that conversation.
- No cross-conversation access. A file one person attaches can no longer be pulled into an answer for someone else's message, even inside the same shared workspace.
- Applies to every file type AI Chat reads. The same ownership check protects screenshots and voice notes alike, with no separate setting to configure.
Where to Find It
