Desktop App Windows Installs Are More Reliable
The Windows build of the desktop app is now simpler and more reliable to release, after retiring support for older 32-bit Windows machines.
Summary
The Effigate Command Center desktop app's Windows release process is now more reliable, after dropping support for 32-bit Windows, a configuration that modern Windows PCs no longer use.
What You Gain
Keeping support for an old 32-bit Windows build added a point of failure to every release, without benefiting the vast majority of users running modern, 64-bit Windows machines. Dropping it means Windows releases of the desktop app go out more smoothly and reliably going forward.
How It Works
- The desktop app for Windows now targets 64-bit machines only, which covers essentially every Windows PC in use today.
- If you're on an older 32-bit Windows machine, you'll need a different device to run the desktop app; the web app continues to work everywhere a browser does.
- No action needed for everyone else — your existing installation and update process are unaffected.
Where to Find It
Download the latest desktop app from your account's download page, same as always.
