The command line tool now tells you how to fix a conflict

A rejected command line request now shows the real reason it failed, not a generic error code that looked like it was safe to retry.

Summary

When a command from the Effigate CLI was rejected, it used to show only a generic error code — one that read as "try again," even when retrying could never work. It now shows the actual reason, in plain language, so you know exactly what to fix.

What You Gain

A generic failure code doesn't tell you whether a request failed because of a typo, a naming clash, or something that will never succeed no matter how many times you run it. That ambiguity led to retrying requests that were doomed to fail every time.

Now a rejected request explains itself: for example, "an agent with this name already exists," or "this task is already assigned to someone." When the problem is a specific field you got wrong, that field is named directly, so you can fix it in one pass instead of guessing.

How It Works

  • Error responses now show the real, specific reason a request was rejected, not just a generic failure code.
  • Validation errors name the exact field that needs to change.
  • A rare case where the server itself returns an unreadable error (for example, from a network issue) now shows as a clear failure message instead of crashing the tool.

Where to Find It

This applies automatically to every command in the Effigate CLI — nothing to configure.
