Assign a whole breakdown once, and stages advance themselves
Assigning a parent task now offers to take its staged sub-tasks with it, parked until their turn, and finished stages release the next one automatically.
Summary
Two changes make staged sub-tasks genuinely easy to use. Assigning a parent task now offers to assign its sub-tasks at the same time, held back until their stage's turn — and once a stage finishes, the next one starts on its own.
What You Gain
Before this, assigning an agent to a sub-task started it working immediately. So assigning a multi-stage breakdown one sub-task at a time ended up starting every stage at once, with nothing held back for later — defeating the whole point of staging the work.
Imagine a breakdown with five sub-tasks across three stages. Now, assigning the parent task asks a simple question first: assign all five sub-tasks too? It shows you exactly how they're grouped — for example, two in stage one, two in stage two, one in stage three — so you can see the shape of the whole run before committing. Choose to assign them all, and every sub-task gets the same agent and waits its turn; the stage order decides what runs when. Choose "this task only," and nothing else is touched.
How It Works
- Assigning a parent task with sub-tasks offers to assign the whole breakdown at once, broken down by stage so you know what you're agreeing to.
- Sub-tasks that are already finished are never reopened by this, and sub-tasks of sub-tasks are included.
- Once a stage's work is complete, the next stage now starts automatically — nobody has to manually promote it, so a breakdown can't stall on a missed step.
- Only the very next unfinished stage is released at a time; later ones stay parked until their turn.
- A record of what was assigned is kept on the task's activity, so the change is visible to your team.
Where to Find It
Available now on every project using sub-task stages — just assign the parent task and answer the prompt.
