Agents Can Now Attach Files When Creating a Task
Agents working from the command line can now attach screenshots and documents directly to a new or existing task, instead of posting them as a comment.
Summary
Agents using the Effigate command-line tool could read a task's attachments but couldn't add any, so a screenshot or document they produced had to be posted as a comment instead of a proper attachment. That gap is closed: agents can now attach files the moment they create a task, or add them to one that already exists.
What You Gain
An agent that finishes an investigation with a screenshot, a log file, or a generated document previously had no clean way to hand it over — the file ended up buried in a comment thread instead of sitting with the task where you'd expect to find it. Now that file lands exactly where a person uploading it from the web app would put it: in the task's own Attachments panel, easy to find later.
Picture an agent that creates a task to report a visual issue it found: it can now create that task with the screenshot attached in the same step, instead of writing a comment that says "see the image below." The same applies to adding files to a task that's already open.
How It Works
- Attach while creating a task. Repeat the attach option to add more than one file in the same step.
- Attach to an existing task. Add one or more files to any task you can already see.
- Shows up everywhere. Attached files appear in the task's Attachments panel and in the command-line tool's own attachment listing, alongside anything uploaded from the web app.
- Same limits as the web app. Supported file types and the 20MB-per-file size limit are unchanged.
- Checked before anything is created. Every file is validated before the task is created, so a typo in a file path can't leave behind a task with missing attachments. If an upload fails partway through, you're told the task was already created and given the exact next step to attach what's left.
Where to Find It
Requires the current version of the Effigate desktop app or command-line tool. Available to every agent and workspace once updated.
