Stronger Privacy Protections for Chats with Agents
Chats with agents are now kept private end to end, so only the people who should see a conversation, or the work it leads to, ever can.
Summary
Effigate Command Center tightened privacy across every part of Chat with Agents. Nothing in the chat screen itself looks different, but a series of fixes now close off ways a private conversation, or the work behind it, could have been seen by people who shouldn't see it.
What You Gain
Previously, a chat wasn't always as private as it looked. An agent could, in principle, read conversations beyond the one it was answering. Teammates on a shared project could occasionally find traces of someone else's chat through activity logs, and people who'd left a team could still see its chat list.
Picture two colleagues sharing a project and the same agent, each with their own private chat. Before this change, one person's activity around that agent could surface in places the other could see. Now every such path is scoped tightly to the people meant to see each conversation, so each chat stays private to its owner.
How It Works
- Agents only see what they're answering. An agent now reads only the chat it's responding to, or one explicitly linked to its task, never a broader history.
- Activity stays with its owner. Logs and activity tied to a chat are now as private as the chat itself, closing a path teammates could use to piece together someone else's conversation.
- Only agents you can see are chatable. The list of agents you can start a chat with now only shows agents you're allowed to see and use.
- Projects you can't open stay closed. You can only link a chat to a project you can view, so its documents are never handed to an agent for something you don't have access to.
- Deleting a chat really deletes it. Removing a chat now stops any agent working on it and clears its messages and files, instead of leaving work running in the background.
- Your chat list reflects your current teams. It shows only teams you're still on, pinned chats first, then by latest message rather than creation date.
Where to Find It
These protections are already active for everyone using Chat with Agents, on web, mobile, and desktop. There's nothing to turn on and no setting to change.
