Agent Runs Now Work in Their Own Protected Copy of Your Code
Agent runs now work in an isolated copy of your repository, report honestly when work is unfinished, and hand off cleanly between related tasks.
Summary
Every agent run in Effigate Command Center now works inside its own private copy of your project, created when the run starts and cleared away when it ends. Your own checkout is never touched, and the whole chain of setup, handoffs, and reviews is more honest about what happened.
What You Gain
Before this update, agent runs worked directly against the same project files you had open, so a run that crashed partway through could leave half-finished edits in your working copy, confusing the next task. A run could also say it had finished while leaving changes uncommitted or unpushed, so the task looked done when nothing was actually saved.
Picture an agent starting work on a task: Effigate gives it a fresh, disposable copy of your project on its own branch. The agent edits, tests, and commits inside that copy, and when the run ends, the copy disappears, leaving your project exactly as you left it. If a run claims to be finished but changes were never committed or pushed, the task is marked failed and says why. A dependent task picks up its work in order, instead of two runs tripping over the same branch.
How It Works
- A disposable workspace per run. Each run gets its own copy of the repository on the task's branch, removed once the run ends.
- Honest completion checks. A run that reports done while leaving uncommitted or unpushed changes is recorded as failed, with the reason shown on the task.
- Full context for every run. Agents receive the right instructions for the kind of run they're on — a first pass, a review, a rework, or a retry — plus your project's saved lessons and reference documents.
- Reviews check the exact version. A review always looks at the specific commit it was asked to judge, not whatever is on disk.
- Dependent tasks run in order. Related sub-tasks work one at a time from the same branch, handing off cleanly.
- Project setup runs automatically before an agent starts working.
Where to Find It
This applies automatically once your desktop app and CLI are updated to the latest version; older versions keep the previous behaviour until updated.
