AI Assistant Now Proposes The Right Number Of Tasks

The AI Assistant now proposes a number of tasks that matches what you actually described, instead of inventing extra process steps.

Summary

The AI Assistant — both the web widget and the mobile app's Task AI Chat — now proposes a set of tasks that matches the number of genuinely separate things you described, instead of expanding a simple request into a longer list of invented process steps. Describe three issues, and you get proposals for up to three tasks, not seven.

What You Gain

Previously, describing a handful of related issues to the AI Assistant could come back with a much longer, over-decomposed proposal: an umbrella parent task that wasn't asked for, separate tasks for "regression coverage" or "verification" that belong inside a task's own checklist rather than as standalone work, and occasionally an entire extra feature nobody requested. Reviewing and trimming a proposal like that took longer than it should have, and it was easy to accept more scope than you meant to.

Now the Assistant sizes its proposal to the number of separable deliverables you actually described, keeps testing and verification steps inside each task's checklist instead of spinning them out as their own tasks, and only mentions optional extra ideas in passing rather than proposing them as work. A flat list of tasks is the default; a parent task with its own sub-tasks is only proposed when one deliverable genuinely depends on pieces that build on each other.

How It Works

  • Task count matches your request. Describe three distinct issues and the Assistant proposes up to three tasks — not an inflated list.
  • Checklists absorb process steps. Testing, QA, and verification steps live inside each task's own checklist rather than becoming separate tasks.
  • No uninvited scope. Ideas beyond what you asked for are mentioned in the Assistant's reply, not slipped into the proposal as tasks.
  • Parent/sub-task structure only when it's warranted. This shape is reserved for one large deliverable whose pieces genuinely depend on each other, not used as a default.

Where to Find It

This applies automatically the next time you use the AI Assistant on web or the Task AI Chat on mobile — there's nothing to turn on.
