Desktop App Releases Now Always Include the Latest Fixes

Desktop app releases now rebuild every bundled component before packaging, so a fix that's already shipped actually reaches your installed app.

Summary

Some desktop app updates were quietly shipping with older internal components than intended, which meant a few fixes — especially around Windows task handling — weren't reaching customers even after they'd been released. Desktop releases now rebuild every bundled component before packaging, so what you install always matches what's actually been fixed.

What You Gain

Previously, the pieces that power the desktop app's task automation could lag behind the rest of the app in a release, even though nothing about that looked wrong from the outside — the version number moved forward, but the underlying behavior sometimes didn't. If you noticed a Windows-related fix announced in one release but didn't see the improvement in your own installation, this was very likely why: your download had the new wrapper around old internals.

Desktop releases now guarantee every internal component is freshly built before anything is packaged, so an announced fix and the behavior you get are always in sync. If your machine also has a separate, manually installed command-line tool on its own update path, the app now records exactly which version it's using for each task run, so you can tell at a glance whether that one needs updating too.

How It Works

  • Every desktop release rebuilds all of its internal components from the current source before packaging, not just the parts that changed on the surface.
  • This applies to every platform the desktop app ships for, including Windows.
  • If a separate command-line install exists on your machine, each task's run history now shows exactly which version handled that run.

Where to Find It

Nothing to configure — this applies to every desktop app release going forward. Update to the latest desktop app version to make sure you're on a build with this fix.
