Windows desktop app updates work again

Fixed an issue where the Effigate Command Center desktop app on Windows could fail to install an available update.

Summary

Updating the Effigate Command Center desktop app on Windows could fail silently, leaving you on an older version with no clear way to get current. That's fixed — Windows updates now install reliably, and the release process checks itself before publishing so a broken update can't go out again.

What You Gain

If you're on Windows and the desktop app hadn't updated in a while, this is why: a recent release line had an update file missing on the server, so the updater asked for a file that wasn't there and quietly gave up. The Mac version was unaffected, since it installs from a different file. This fixes the Windows side of the self-updating desktop app we introduced last month.

You'll now get the latest desktop app automatically, the way it's meant to work — no need to reinstall manually or chase down an installer yourself.

How It Works

Every release of the desktop app now confirms its installers are actually available before the update is announced to anyone. If a file is missing, the release is held back instead of being published broken, so you're never offered an update that can't install.

Where to Find It

No action is needed — the desktop app will pick up the fix the next time it checks for an update, and every release going forward is verified before it's published.
