Control Which API Keys Can Create New Channels or Groups
Turn off an API key's right to create new channels or groups on the fly, and add channels by hand from project settings.
An API key can now be limited so it no longer creates new channels or groups just by naming them in an incoming event.
What You Gain
Until now, any event, identity or group call that named a channel or group LogZuno hadn't seen before created it on the spot — handy at first, but it meant a typo in your tracking code could leave you with a stray channel cluttering your project. You can now turn that off per key, so an unrecognized name is rejected with a clear error instead of silently creating something new. A batch call is rejected as a whole rather than partly applied, so you always know exactly what went in.
How It Works
Set the right when you create a key, or switch it on an existing one, from your project's API key settings. With it off, calls must use channels and groups that already exist. You can still add a channel by hand at any time from the project's settings, so turning the right off never blocks you from growing your tracking — it just takes the guesswork out of incoming data.
Where to Find It
Open Project Settings → API Keys to switch the right on an existing key, or Project Settings → Channels to add one yourself.
