Closing a Task Now Means the Same Thing However You Do It

Every way of marking a task Done now records the same completion date, sends the same notification, and applies the same permission check.

Summary

There used to be several different ways to mark a task Done in Effigate Command Center — an Approve button, a status dropdown, and dragging a card on the board — and they quietly behaved differently from each other. All of them now go through the exact same step, so closing a task means the same thing, and is recorded the same way, no matter how you do it.

What You Gain

Previously, only some ways of closing a task recorded a completion date, and your dashboard's and profile's "tasks completed" figures are counted from that date — so work closed by dragging a card on the board was never actually counted toward those totals. Only one of the ways to close a task notified anyone that it had happened; close the same review by dragging instead, and nobody following that task heard about it. Closing a task from the board also had no permission check at all, meaning anyone could close a restricted review simply by dragging its card, bypassing a restriction the task's own detail view enforced.

Every way of closing a task now records the same completion date, sends the same notification, and applies the same permission check. A one-time repair also filled in the missing completion dates on tasks that were already closed, so your historical reporting stops under-counting older work.

Notifications for a task reaching "ready for review" are more accurate too — they now follow the task's actual status, rather than when an agent's run happened to finish, and only go to people actually following that task rather than every manager across your account.

How It Works

  • Marking a task Done through any method — the Approve button, the status menu, or dragging its card — now records the same completion date and counts toward your reporting.
  • Everyone following a task is notified the same way regardless of which method closed it.
  • Closing a task requires the same permission everywhere, closing a gap where dragging a card could bypass a restriction.
  • "Ready for review" notifications now follow the task's actual status change, reaching the people following that specific task.
  • Two redundant buttons that duplicated other, already-working features have been removed.

Where to Find It

This applies automatically to every task across your account — there's nothing to configure, and your historical completion numbers have already been corrected.
